Announces Resignation: Liz Truss The Abridged Prime Minister In British History

JAKARTA - British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation just six weeks after being sworn in, the impact of an economic program that shocked financial markets and divides the Conservative Party.

With the announcement of his resignation, Truss became the shortest prime minister in British history, only 45 days in office.

Previously, George Canning held the record for the shortest prime ministerial term. He was recorded as only 119 days in that position. However, unlike Truss, Canning left his position because he died in 1827.

Speaking outside the office door No. 10 Downing Street, Truss accepted she was unable to fulfill the promise she made when she ran for Conservative leader, for losing the trust of her party.

"But I admit, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate I chose by the Conservative Party. Therefore, I have spoken to His Majesty Raja to inform him that I have resigned as leader of the Conservative Party," he said.

It is planned that the leadership elections will be completed next week to fill the position left by Truss.
