The Kanjuruhan Stadium Will Soon Be Leveled To The Ground And Rebuilt According To FIFA Standards

President Joko Widodo said the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang, East Java, would be demolished and rebuilt in accordance with the standards of the International Football Federation (FIFA).

"Earlier I also conveyed and FIFA appreciates that we will also collapse the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang and we will build it again according to FIFA standards," said Jokowi after giving a statement with FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday 18 October.

According to Jokowi, the rebuilding of the Kanjuruhan Stadium will implement more adequate facilities. The new Kanjuruhan Stadium will also become an example of a stadium in Indonesia with facilities that ensure the safety of spectators, players, and supporters.

"For example, stadium standards with good facilities ensure the safety of spectators and players as well as for supporters," he added.

Regarding the budget for the rebuilding of the Kanjuruhan Stadium, said Jokowi, it will be borne by the central government.

The meeting between Jokowi and Infantino at the Merdeka Palace, Tuesday afternoon, gave birth to an agreement between the two parties to jointly transform football in Indonesia. This was done as a follow-up to the tragedy that killed 132 people after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya at the Kanjuruhan Malang Stadium, on Saturday (1/10).

Jokowi and Infantino also discussed various aspects of football, such as stadium management, security management of football matches, match management, to supporters' management.

In addition, Jokowi said FIFA will also invest in many things, such as helping to implement safety standards in football, fostering supporters, building stadiums, and developing soccer schools in Indonesia.

"Earlier, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that FIFA wants a lot of investment in Indonesia, in terms of stadiums, safety, supporters, football schools in Indonesia," said Jokowi.

In order to support the transformation of football in the country, FIFA will have an office in Indonesia. The Indonesian government is committed to immediately preparing the FIFA office. Also accompanying President Jokowi at the meeting were Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir.
