SULTRA - A crew member named Oba (50) was hit by a ship's engine crazy wheel around the waters of Kaledupa Island, Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).

Head of Basarnas Kendari Aris Sofongi said that Basarnas received information about the incident from the victim's wife, Eci, who immediately evacuated.

"We received information from Mrs. Eci, the victim's wife, who reported that one longboat crew member was hit by a crazy wheel of the ship's TS engine around the waters of Kaledupa Island, Wakatobi," he said in Kendari, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 18.

He conveyed that after receiving the report, his party dispatched a rescue team from the Wakatobi SAR Post to evacuate the victim who is a resident of Waha Village, Wangi-wangi Utara District, Wakatobi.

The Wakatobi SAR Post Rescue Team went to the accident scene using RIB to provide medical assistance (medical evacuation).

He said, at 15.35 WITA, the Wakatobi SAR Post Rescue Team arrived at the scene of the accident and immediately evacuated the victim to Wakatobi Hospital.

"At 15.55 WITA the victim arrived at the pier and then took the victim to Wakatobi Hospital for further medical treatment. At 16.05 WITA the victim arrived at Wakatobi Hospital," he said.

Previously, on Monday, October 17, at around 13.00 WITA, the ship carrying the victim departed from Kaledupa Island, Wakatobi Regency to Wanci Island, Wakatobi.

At around 14.50 WITA, the victim, as a crew member, checked the ship's engine but the victim's clothes hit the engine crazy wheel which resulted in him being interested.

The victim's head was hit on the wheel of the crazy parent machine. As a result, the head was injured and bleeding until the victim was unconscious.

"For this incident, the captain of Mr. Igo's ship called the wife of the victim, Mrs. Eci, to forward this information to us," said Aris.
