JAKARTA - Chairman of the MPR RI DPR and Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party Bambang Soesatyo assesses that although the new democratic party will be held in 2024, it has been widely discussed by all Indonesian people.

"We can all feel that the political year seems to be coming early. Talks about the succession of national leadership are topics everywhere. My hope is for all elements of the nation to build the situation and encourage coalitions of political parties safely and peacefully," said Bamsoet after attending the Healthy Walk event for the 58th anniversary of the Golkar Party with the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, in the Gelora Bung Karno Senayan area, Sunday (16/10/22).

Also present in addition to the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Golkar Party Aburizal Bakrie, Chairman of the Honorary Council of the Golkar Party Akbar Tanjung, also attended the Golkar Party DPP executives including Secretary General Lodewijk F. Paulus, and General Treasurer Dito Ganinduto. Also present were the OC Chairman of the Golkar Party's 58th Anniversary Committee, Maman Abdurrahman, and the SC Chairperson of the 58th Anniversary Committee of the Golkar Party, Ace Hasan Syadzily and Adies Kadir.

The 20th chairman of the DPR RI and the former chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI also invite them to build a joint commitment to make a democratic party that is cheerful and joyful without tears and does not divide the unity and integrity of the nation. There should be no more identity politics that creates polarization in society. Political parties may compete with each other for public support, but not by bringing up issues of religion, ethnicity, or race that harm Indonesian democracy.

"If anyone brings up the name of religion or racial group, our task must be to immediately prevent it. The issue of religion, ethnicity, and race has passed, we are already independent. Now how do we fill that independence properly," said Bamsoet.

The Deputy Chairperson of Pemuda Pancasila and Deputy General Chairperson of FKPPI explained that since the democratic elections were held again in 1999, the community has been taught how to deal with differences in politics. Likewise, in welcoming the 2024 Simultaneous General Election and Regional Head Elections, the Golkar Party always invites all elements of the nation to put forward the spirit of togetherness.

"Election and local elections as a people's democratic party must be carried out with joy, not even ending in sorrow. Moreover, it has an impact on the division of the nation. We certainly understand when to compete, and when to side by side," concluded Bamsoet.
