Teddy Minasaha Is Known To Be Strongly Eradicated To Get A Minang Indigenous Title, LKAAM Gives Explanation

JAKARTA - The Minangkabau Natural Customary Meeting Institute (LKAAM) West Sumatra held a meeting to discuss the Minang traditional title that had been given to the former West Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Teddy Minahasa after the person concerned was suspected of being involved in a drug case.

"First, what I need to emphasize is that the traditional title that has been given to Inspector General Teddy is two different things from the case that befell him at this time and that is beyond our reach and authority," said West Sumatra LKAAM Chairman Fauzi Bahar quoting Antara, Sunday, October 16.

According to him, the awarding of the Minang traditional title to Inspector General Teddy, namely to help Bandaro Alam Sati was carried out for a number of achievements that were inscribed during his time as number one at the West Sumatra Regional Police before this incident.

"Inspector General Teddy has been known to firmly eradicate online gambling and realize'restorative justice' or settlement of cases outside the court," he said.

He explained that restorative justice used to be the authority of ninik mamak or traditional stakeholders in Minang.

"It is like a blunt and stainless machete which is then honed so that it is sharp and given to ninic mamak, this has been waiting for mama's NInik in West Sumatra for a long time," he said.

Restorative justice is the prosecution of minor criminal cases by deliberation and consensus involving mama's ninik so that it does not have to go to court and is simply resolved by customary stakeholders.

Then another achievement is to increase the coverage of COVID-19 vaccination in West Sumatra, focusing on education and others.

"So that West Sumatra's LKAAM considers it worthy of a traditional title with considerations when starting in office until it is given a title in question, good and outstanding," he said.

Regarding the incident that happened to Inspector General Teddy, it was out of reach and the West Sumatra LKAAM respected the applicable legal process by prioritizing the principle of presumption of innocence.

He said there was no revocation of the title because but his party would sit down together with ninik mamak to discuss this.

Previously, former West Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Teddy Minahasa Putra and Merthy's wife were awarded the traditional honorary title from Tampuak Tangkai Alam Minangkabau in Pariangan Nagari Tuo Village, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra on June 16, 2022.

Inspector General of Police Teddy Minahasa was given the honorary title of traditional Bandaro Alam Sati, while for his wife Puti Sibadayu.

The granting of the traditional title is in accordance with the Decree of Tangkaak Tangkai Alam Minangkabau, Number: 146/SK-TTAM/2022 which was signed by Jufrizal, SE Anngku DT. Bandaro Kayo.
