JAKARTA - The National Police's Propam Division arrested the East Java Police Chief Inspector General Teddy Minahasa on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking cases. The arrest was ordered by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, when hundreds of Polri officials were summoned by President Joko Widodo to the palace. Political communication observer at Esa Unggul University, Jamiluddin Ritonga, said the case added to the long series of Polri members who were arrested for drug cases. However, according to him, the East Java Police Chief's case was the most extraordinary because the officers with two stars were carried out. Jamiluddin assessed that the National Police Chief should order all members of the National Police to periodically conduct urine tests or similar tests. Through the test, members of the National Police will find out who are positive for drugs or are involved in drug trafficking. "Those who are positive for drugs should be fired immediately," he said. In addition, Jamiluddin added, the National Police Chief should also order Propam to supervise all members of the National Police. The goal is to ensure that no members of the National Police are involved in the network and drug dealers. "If all members of the National Police are not drug users and are not involved in a network or drug dealer, then the National Police can fight against drugs in the country. That way, the public will believe that the Police are serious about nullizing drugs in the realm of water," he concluded.
