JAKARTA - Ukraine's Attorney General announced the opening of a criminal process regarding the Russian missile attack that bombarded Kyiv and other cities earlier this week.

Attorney General Andriy Kostin described the missile attacks launched since Monday as "classical acts of terror" carried out by Russia.

He explained that there have been about 112 Russian missile attacks, Moscow's biggest airstrike since the start of the invasion on February 24, which killed 17 people and injured 93 people.

"All attacks from each missile, every drone, any civilian infrastructure damage, every Ukraine killed or injured by this missile attack, all documented and criminal proceedings registered and opened," he said.

He further explained that cases of war crimes had begun against 186 people since the war began, with 10 now being punished, but many of the suspects were in Russia.

"We have identified them, but we don't know where they are," he said.

"We have victims and they are waiting for justice. We can't just stop cases, because we don't know where they are," he said.

He made comments at a joint press conference with International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor Karim Khan and European crime agency president Eurojust, Ladislav Hamran.

It is known that the prosecutor's office has 28 investigative teams in the field in recently released territory, where Kostin said the resignation of Russian troops had left evidence of illegal detention and torture of civilians and illegal deportation.

In the newly released Kharkiv region of eastern Ukraine, prosecutors have found at least 11 burial sites, including one mass grave near the city of Izium, and have dug 457 bodies across the site, Kostin said.

Two additional mass graves were found in the Lyman region with about 154 people, Ukrainian soldiers and civilians, buried there, he added.

Meanwhile, Russia has repeatedly denied deliberately attacking civilians in Ukraine. Moscow also denies violating international law and denies Kyiv's accusations that the Russian army has committed war crimes.
