MALUKU - The joining of KRI Dorang-874 to the Lantamal IX patrol unit strengthens sea security in Maluku Province.

The Commander of the Indonesian Navy Main Base (AU) IX Ambon, Brigadier General TNI (Mar) Said Latuconsina, said that the security of the waters bordering neighboring countries was helped by the arrival of the fast patrol warship.

"The inclusion of KRI Dorang-874 in the ranks of the Patrol Lantamal IX will have a very big impact on securing the waters of Maluku Province which borders neighboring Australia and Timor Leste," Said said in his statement, Thursday, October 13.

Said explained that the KRI Dorang-874 will carry out the main task of the KRI by patrolling the law at sea in order to maintain the security of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in the waters of Maluku, which is rich in fishery resources.

On the one hand, the KRI also cannot be denied that it is facing additional tasks, such as SAR operations and military operations other than war (OMSP).

"With the presence of KRI Dorang, this will certainly further strengthen the ranks of Lantamal IX in carrying out national defense and law enforcement tasks at sea. We must welcome this moment with great pride and gratitude," he said.

Previously, on Wednesday, October 12, the Ambon Lantamal IX held a tradition of accepting the KRI Dorang-874 as well as inaugurating its inaugural mission, namely the 'Claive 2022 Rupiah Ediction' on three islands in Maluku Province. The mission is in collaboration with the local Bank Indonesia office.

Said also asked the commander and crew of KRI Dorang-874 to comply with security and occupational safety procedures, especially in operating defense equipment according to its function when undergoing the mission.

The size of KRI Dorang-874 is 60 meters long with a width of 8.5 meters, and a total weight of 520 tons. The ship is fairly modern in its type because of the latest technology for patrol boats and is equipped with an integrated management system beat system.

In terms of weaponry, the KRI Dorang-874 was strengthened with one Bofors 40 millimeter gun and two 12.5 millimeter partner guns.

In addition, it is also supported by radar surveillance which can reach up to about 100 miles, and is able to accommodate 55 personnel each and has a maximum speed of 24 knots.
