SERANG – A student riding a motorcycle was killed when he was hit by a train at a railroad crossing on Lt. Gen. R. Suprapto Street, Cilegon City, Tuesday, October 11 at around 09.00 WIB. Cilegon Police Traffic Head AKP Yusuf Dwi Atmojo confirmed the incident. According to Yusuf, the victim was negligent because he did not heed the rules.

"It's true, the motorcycle accident, hit by a train at around 09.00. The victim is a student with the initials HK (15) riding a Honda Scoopy motorcycle," said AKP Yusuf Dwi Atmojo in a written statement, Tuesday, October 11.

It is known that the victim was using a Scoopy motorbike with Police Number A 3558 SO, and was dragged 100 meters, and died at the scene.

"The victim suffered serious injuries to the head," continued Yusuf.

Yusuf also explained that initially, the train passed from the Rangkas line to Merak. Then, continued Yusuf, the driver had given a warning by honking the train horn, but the victim ignored it which resulted in the victim being hit and dragged up to 100 meters from the crime scene (TKP) at the gate of Fatahillah Vocational School.

"At that time the victim was about to cross the railroad tracks to park his vehicle which was right next to the railroad tracks. The school security together with the victim's colleagues made efforts to warn the victim that a train is passing. The victim uses a headset and a full-face helmet," he explained.

Yusuf added that the officers had conducted a crime scene investigation and immediately took the victim to the hospital.

"The victims were immediately evacuated to the Cilegon City Hospital," he added.
