BEKASI - The Final Disposal Site (TPA) of waste belonging to the Bekasi Regency Government in Burangkeng Village, Setu District returned to normal operations after being hit by a landslide in a garbage mountain some time ago.

He said that last weekend's garbage landslide forced his party to temporarily stop waste disposal activities at the Burangkeng TPA on Monday, October 10, in order to give officers time to clean and tidy up.
The dredging activity of landslides involves all officers from the six Cleanliness UPTDs to assist the waste transportation process. Five excavators and two bulldozers were also deployed to clear the garbage slide.
"We are still carrying out dredging at the landslide site with heavy equipment, we are also deploying all officers from the six Cleanliness UPTDs to assist the transportation process," he said.
Rahmat admitted that the current conventional handling of waste has not been able to control waste in the Burangkeng TPA. As a result, there was an avalanche of garbage which was allegedly caused by the landfill of the Burangkeng TPA which had exceeded capacity.
"In addition, the distance from the river's lips to the garbage is very close, causing the soil to experience abrasion," he said.
When abrasion occurred, he said, the existing guardrail also collapsed causing garbage to spill into the river and cover part of the river body.
"We are still carrying out the dredging process of garbage from the river body to the top of the TPA," he said.
The Bekasi Regency Government has made various efforts to reduce the volume of waste at the Burangkeng TPA. "We will cooperate with PT Indocement. From the waste that has been processed, it will then be used as a source of energy fuel Refused Derived Fuel (RDF)," he said.
His party has also repaired the landslide area using heavy excavators and dredged land for unloading garbage in Zone B and D so that it can function again so far it can be operated.
"For the 2023 Fiscal Year, we will carry out rehabilitation, waste management and location expansion, as well as increasing the capacity of the TPA whose budget is sourced from the Bekasi Regency APBD through the Perkimtan Service," he said.
