ACEH - The NGO of the Aceh Transparency Society (MATA) has written to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to question the progress of investigating the alleged corruption case in Aceh. MaTA Coordinator Alfian said the KPK had conducted an open investigation in Aceh in June 2021. As of October 10, 2022, it had entered 494 days. However, there have been no further developments regarding the investigation so the Aceh public wondered. "Therefore, we together with other Aceh anti-corruption community coalitions question how to follow up on legal steps that have been taken by the KPK," said Alfian in Banda Aceh, Antara, Monday, October 10. Alfian conveyed that their letter to the KPK with the number: 016/B/MaTA/X/2022 regarding the development of an open investigation in Aceh had been received by the KPK on Thursday, October 6, 2022 last week. Alfian said that there were five cases handled by the KPK in Aceh, namely, cases of PLTU 3 and 4 in Nagan Raya Regency. Where the licensing process for the steam power plant was considered problematic and the potential for conflicts of interest between the district head and the then governor. The latest case, added Alfian, was related to the use of refocusing funds, the allocation of refocusing in Aceh province of Rp. 2.3 trillion was included in the top five highest budget allocations for handling COVID-19 in Indonesia. However, until now the transparency and accountability of the use of these funds are still being questioned with the Aceh DPR's records and have also been reported to the KPK. "Therefore, we have written and questioned the progress of the investigation of the five cases in Aceh to the KPK," said Alfian. To note, in mid-2021, the KPK has summoned a number of parties, both executives and legislatures, for questioning and clarification of the ongoing investigation in Aceh. This inspection is related to the procurement of goods and services for the Aceh Government for the 2019-2021 fiscal year, including the procurement of Aceh Hebat ships and road construction with multi-year schemes and other cases.
