Handling Floods In Solo, Mayor Gibran Bangun Drainage Simultaneous

SOLO - Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka confirmed the construction of drainage in several places in Solo as an effort to deal with flood disasters following early warnings regarding extreme weather from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The potential for extreme weather from BMKG hit a number of areas in Indonesia, including Surakarta with a validity period of 9-15 October 2022. Gibran also made an alert regarding this condition.

"In addition, if there is sedimentation, just report it, we will dredge it later," he said, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 10.

Separately, the Head of the Surakarta City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Nico Agus Putranto, requested that the community synergize with local governments and related stakeholders to anticipate and cope with disasters.

He hopes that the public will also be aware of the threat of disasters in their area so that prevention can be carried out as early as possible.

"Because this is entering extreme weather, I ask the public to be aware of the disaster, so that in handling and reading potential disasters, people can begin to prepare themselves and work together," he said.

Previously, the BMKG issued a release of potential extreme weather in a number of parts of Indonesia. BMKG predicts the potential for moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds for the period 9-15 October 2022 in the region as follows:
