JAKARTA - An Iranian television was allegedly hacked during Saturday's evening news program, according to a pro-reformation outlet IranWire, who shared a clip of the incident.

The Tasnim semi-official news agency reported that news broadcasts by the Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN) under the Broadcasting of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRIB), were hacked for some time by anti-revolutionary elements, at 9 p.m.

The incident clip, which is now viral, shows IRIB/IRINN showing the segment on Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei attending a meeting in the southern city of Bushehr, which was rivaled by a cartoon mask video with a thick beard and eyebrows with a black background.

The mask video was followed by a screen showing photos of Khamenei with a target on his face along with photos of Nika Shahkarami, Hadis Najafi, Mahsa Amini, and Sarina Esmailzadeh, all young women who have died in Iran in the past month, according to CNN, October 10.

Amini (22), died after being detained by moral police. The other three, two of whom were teenagers, died in protests that erupted since Amini's death.

In addition to the photos on the screen there is a message that reads, "Join us and get up" and "Our youth blood drips from your grip," along with social media links to hacker group Edalat-e Ali, which translates into Ali's Justice.

The image is known to remain on the screen for a few seconds.

Edalat-e Ali appears to have taken credit for the hack, uploading clips on their social media accounts saying, "On people's request, we fulfill our promise and do things we didn't think of freeing Iran."

The national protests have gripped Iran for weeks after Amini's death, after he was detained by the government's moral police, allegedly for not wearing his headscarves properly. His death has sparked violent clashes between demonstrators and authorities, reportedly causing many people to die and be injured.
