Officially Launched, Jokowi Asks Sri Sultan-KGPAA Natural Paku X Focuses On Combating Food Prices And Inflation In DIY

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) left a message to the Governor and Deputy Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and KGPAA Paku Alam X, to immediately shift focus on controlling food prices and inflation in their area. The President hopes that both of them can immediately continue their work after being officially re-inducted for the 2022-2027 term of office at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, October 10. "The most important thing was that he entrusted him with matters relating to food prices and inflation so that it became the focus of attention," the President told the media crew after the inauguration procession, quoted from Antara. According to the President, controlling food prices and inflation has become a major problem and a scourge for all countries in recent times. According to Bank Indonesia data, DIY experienced inflation with a level of 5.30 percent in the second quarter of 2022 (year on year/yoy) or an increase compared to the first quarter of 2022 of 2.95 percent (yoy) and higher than the realization of the second quarter of 2021, which is 1.50 percent (yoy). On the other hand, the President reminded that the re-regulation of Sultan HB X and KGPAA Paku Alam X as Governor/Wage Governor of DIY 2022-2027 was in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 13 of 2012 concerning the Privileges of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Both were then sworn in based on Presidential Decree Number 90P of 2022 concerning Ratification, Dismissal, and Determination of the Governor and Deputy Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta for the 2022-2027 term set by President Jokowi on August 29. In accordance with the request of the DIY DPRD, all 54 provincial-level legislators were present at the inauguration of the Governor/Regional Governor of DIY at the State Palace. The inauguration was also attended by Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and fifth president of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri.
