Heru's Presidential Decree As Acting Governor Of DKI, Jokowi: I Know The True Track Record

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo revealed the reason he chose the Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres) Heru Budi Hartono to become the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta to replace Anies Baswedan.

Jokowi revealed that he appointed Heru because he had very understanding of Heru's performance, starting from taking positions in the DKI Provincial Government to entering the Palace environment with him.

"I've known Mr. Heru for a long time, since I was mayor in DKI, then when I held the financial body. I know very well the track record in terms of work, capacity, ability, I know everything," said Jokowi at the Presidential Palace, Monday, October 10.

In addition, Jokowi assessed that Heru was also proficient in communicating with other parties. So, he believes that the relationship between the DKI Provincial Government and the DKI DPRD, the central government, as well as other institutions and communities can be well established.

Then, Jokowi assessed that the implementation of development during Heru's leadership starting on October 17, 2022 until the 2024 election was completed quickly.

"The communication is very good with anyone, so we hope that there will be an acceleration," said Jokowi.

As is known, Jokowi has appointed Heru Budi Hartono as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta. This was decided by Jokowi in a meeting of the Final Assessment Team (TPA) which was chaired directly by Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace, some time ago.

Before being elected, there were three names of candidates for the Acting Governor of DKI proposed by the DKI Jakarta DPRD. Apart from Heru, the names of the previously proposed Acting Governor were DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretary Marullah Matali and Director General of Polpum Kemendagri Bahtiar.

Heru is not new to the scope of government in Jakarta. He started his career in 1993 by becoming a Civil Servant (PNS) with the position of Special Staff of the Mayor of North Jakarta.

Heru Budi has also occupied a number of important positions. For example, in 2014, Jokowi, who was then the Governor of DKI Jakarta, appointed him as Mayor of North Jakarta. After that he was appointed Head of DKI BPKAD in 2015.
