JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan explained that the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST) is now able to process up to a maximum of 3,000 tons of waste per day into environmentally friendly fuel (RDF).

"So gradually we will process the pile of garbage in Bantargebang into RDF," said Anies during the initial opening of the waste processing project at the Bantargebang TPST in Bekasi, West Java, Monday, October 10.

As an initial stage, the Bantargebang TPST is targeted to process 1,000 tons of new waste each and 1,000 tons of old piles of waste to around 700-750 tons of RDF per day.

With the waste processing, the pile of garbage at the Bantargebang TPST can be reduced gradually considering that the amount of waste sent to the TPST reaches around 7,500 tons per day which is transported by around 1,200 trucks.

The results of the waste processing in the form of RDF will be absorbed by two cement factories, namely PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa and PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia (SBI).

The two companies have signed a memorandum of agreement with the DKI Environmental Agency (DLH) on the sidelines of the opening of the origin, which will be followed up with the signing of the RDF buying and selling cooperation.

Head of the DKI Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, explained that Indocement is ready to buy 550 tons per day. Meanwhile, SBI will utilize 150 tons of RDF per day.

"Regarding the selling price of RDF, it is currently being studied by DLH which is also considering coal prices and the quality of RDF for coal for the cement industry," said Asep.

The waste is processed at the RDF processing site on an area of 7.4 hectares built by February 2022 and is targeted to be completed in December 2022 and fully operational in January 2023.

Currently, continued Asep, the construction of the facility has reached 82 percent.

Asep added that the RDF waste management facility cost around Rp. 1 trillion using the National Economic Recovery (PEN) fund of Rp456.3 billion and Rp. 613.9 billion from the 2022 DKI Regional Budget.
