The Reason Jokowi Chose Hendrar Prihadi As Head Of LKPP: Mayor Of Semarang 2 Period

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo explained that he chose Hendrar Prihadi to serve as Head of the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP) for the period 2022-2027.

Jokowi said he saw a pretty good track record as Mayor of Semarang for two terms to the man who is familiarly called Hendi. This was conveyed by Jokowi after the inauguration at the State Palace today.

"The Mayor of Semarang has two terms. I am following his track record, as well as his ability and capacity in managing an organization," said Jokowi, Monday, October 10.

Currently, LKPP is reforming the product screening business process in an electronic catalog (e-catalog) and achieving the target of showing 1 million products in an electronic catalog, including encouraging micro, small and medium enterprise products (MSMEs) to enter the electronic catalog.

On that basis, Jokowi asked Hendi to improve business products that are included in the e-catalog.

"Complete especially MSME products so that more and more people can enter the e-catalog, both central e-catalog and local e-catalog products. So, the movement to love domestic products will really be implemented in terms of government spending, SOEs, and regions," said Jokowi.

In addition, Jokowi also asked Hendi to manage the goods and services procurement system properly.

"We hope that this LKPP, because it manages goods and services up to hundreds of trillions, later if the regions enter, it can become thousands of trillions, the important thing is that the system continues to be repaired. So, the spaces for the main thing in the context of the procurement of goods and services can really be managed and controlled," he explained.

Hendrar was appointed by Joko Widodo to replace the previous Head of LKKP, Abdullah Azwar Anas, who was appointed Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB).

Prior to his inauguration as Head of LKPP, Hendrar Prihadi was known to have served as Deputy Mayor of Semarang for the 2010-2012 period. He was then appointed as acting Mayor of Semarang in 2012, after the Mayor of Semarang at that time Soemarmo HS was disabled due to a bribery case against members of the Semarang City House of Representatives for Fiscal Year 2012.

The PDI-P politician was later inaugurated as the definitive Mayor of Semarang in 2013-2015. He advanced again as the incumbent and won the 2015 Semarang City Election in pairs with Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu to serve in the 2016-2021 period.
