Speaking Of Competition For The Presidential Election At Hadapan Puan Maharani, Airlangga: Winning To Lose The Regular Question

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto said contestation in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) was a normal thing. Winning and losing should not be a problem.

This was conveyed by Airlangga when he met the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP Puan Maharani at Monas, Central Jakarta, Saturday, October 8.

"The competition for the presidential election is an ordinary competition, we have participated in various elections. Winning and losing is a matter of ordinary but what is unusual is how we prosper the people," said Airlangga.

Airlangga said Golkar and PDIP are committed to continuing future development. As the biggest party, both of them must work together so that government work can continue.

Moreover, so far the two parties have often collaborated. In fact, Golkar-PDIP is now a supporter of the government and has succeeded.

One example is when facing the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic recession. Airlangga said Golkar and PDIP were able to work well together.

"One of the successes in handling Covid-19 is because we invited Perppu and Law (UU) Number 2 of 2020 and this was directly approved by the Parliament led by Mrs. Puan," he explained.

"If the government and the DPR are not together, I can't imagine how we will deal with the COVID-19 pandemic," said Airlangga.

As previously reported, Puan and Airlangga had time to walk in the Monas area. The meeting of these two political figures took place casually.

Not only meeting Airlangga, Puan has visited three leaders of political parties. They are the General Chair of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh, the General Chair of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto, and the General Chair of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin.
