Anticipate Floods, 95 Stationary Pump Units Will Be Vulnerable At Flood Clouds

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta City Government has alerted 95 stationary pumps and maximized 23 pump houses to anticipate flooding at inundation-prone points in Central Jakarta. Moreover, it has now entered the rainy season.

"We have stationary pumps with a total of 95 units, there are 23 pump houses. They are all guarded so that at any time they are operated they live," said Head of the Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-dept., Mustajab when confirmed, Friday, October 7.

Mustajab said the pump needed time to be alerted because it could not operate immediately at any time.

"I ask that before it rains, all reservoirs and all pumps or reservoirs can be dried up, we ask to be pumped from the start so that when the rainwater rains it can be accommodated immediately," he said.

Furthermore, Mustajab hopes that the presence of the pump can minimize the emergence of inundation or flooding in the Central Jakarta area.

A total of 23 points of the pump house are located in the Melati Reservoir, Cideng, Palace, Thamrin Building Jaya, Thamrin Menara Topas, Mapalus, Pangeran Jayakarta, Bendungan Hilir, Kali Item, Sumur Batu, Pump gate Jalan Batu, Cempaka Baru, Cempaka Putih, Dwiwarna, Industry, Jati Tinggi 1, 2, 3, Kartini V, Mangga Besar 13, Mangga Dua Abdad, Rajawali Selatan, and Penataran.

Previously, it was reported that Jalan Jend. Ahmad Yani, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta was again flooded on Thursday, October 6, evening.

As a result, a number of drivers were desperate to fight the flow of traffic to avoid puddles. The puddle also had an impact on traffic jams that snaked up to about 1 kilometer, starting from Rawasari's Traffic Light (TL) to near the Coca Cola Cempaka Putih intersection, Central Jakarta.

The impact of traffic congestion was complained by a number of other motorists.
