KPK: There Are 210 Corruption Cases In The Health And State Rugikan Sector Of Up To IDR 821.21 Billion

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the practice of rasuah was still happening in the health sector. There are hundreds of cases that have been handled. "KPK found that there were 210 cases of corruption in the health sector with a loss of Rp. 821.21 billion and involving 176 perpetrators," said KPK Deputy Chair Nawawi Pomolango in a written statement, Friday, October 7. He emphasized that the health budget continues to increase, even reaching Rp180 trillion in 2022. However, of this amount 10 percent of the budget is prone to corruption in the regions. Thus, the KPK asks for mitigation of the risk of corruption in this sector to continue. Nawawi said his institution will continue to monitor the health budget. The KPK does not hesitate to punish anyone caught committing corruption in the health sector. Moreover, the large budget turned out to be in line with the ongoing corruption case. Officials in this sector are asked to maximize the budget so that the people can enjoy their rights. "KPK has special concerns regarding corruption in the health sector, due to the large health budget and the many corruption cases in this sector," he said.
