TERNATE - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will assist in withdrawing assets in the form of official cars and state-owned official houses that are still controlled by former Ternate City officials, North Maluku Province (Malut). Head of the KPK Region V Supervision Coordination Task Force Dian Patria said, based on reports that 61 two-wheeled and 10-wheeled vehicles had not been returned, while five active officials were still reported to be using the state-owned assets. "I have conveyed that, later data will be given, because there are 61 two-wheeled and 10 four-wheeled vehicles, except for five active officials, two former deputy mayors, and sub-district heads," he said in Ternate, Antara, Friday, October 7. He stated that his party had gone to the field and did not want an incident like the former Keerom Regent in Papua in August 2021 who was sentenced to 3 years in prison. The case was reported to the Papuan Police regarding a criminal act of embezzlement of assets. Where when he left the official residence, it turned out that the contents of the entire official house were also vacated or taken away. As a result, there were parties who reported to the Papuan Police so that the former regent underwent a trial and was sentenced to three years in prison. "If you learn from the criminal case of embezzlement of assets, don't get dragged away. If you don't want to get into trouble like that," he said. He hopes that district/city governments if they find something similar, they will report it to law enforcement officers (APH) related to the crime of embezzlement of assets. "So the assets are not returned by the regional leadership, so they can report to the APH and the report is a criminal act of embezzlement of state assets," he said. He said his party would go down to accompany him in the field, for example, if not returned, it could be reported and it was entered into the realm of criminal embezzlement of assets, including the official residence of a former DPRD member which would be rescued. "The official residence of a former DPRD member controlled by five active ASN and one former DPRD member," he said.
