Floods On Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani (Bypass): Taking The Most Used Motorbike 20 Minutes, Because Of Eating 2 Hours

JAKARTA - The Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani (Bypass) section, Kayu Putih Village, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta, was flooded as high as 50 centimeters. The puddle of water was caused by rain that hit the Jakarta area on Thursday, October 6.

Floods also have an impact on congestion and hundreds of vehicles broke down. Congestion is caused because the lane section of the road is flooded with water so that passing vehicles are forced to queue.

Congestion also snaked long from the Cempaka Putih Flyover to Cawang, East Jakarta. Even traffic congestion is estimated to occur for 3 kilometers, starting from the Sunter area, North Jakarta.

One of the motorcyclists admitted that he was stuck in traffic for almost 2 hours due to flooding. Usually the distance traveled is only 20 minutes, now due to flooding it reaches 2 hours.

Meanwhile, hundreds of motorcyclists were forced to guide their vehicles because they broke down when they were desperate to hit the puddles.

Anticipating a snaking traffic jam, East Jakarta Satwil Traffic officers were also dispatched to the location to relieve traffic jams and assist striking vehicles.

East Jakarta Head of Gattib Ipda Sarwono said the traffic jam was caused by flooding to a water level of 40 centimeters.

"The congestion in Cempaka is white. Many vehicles broke down because the water level was more than 40 centimeters. Congestion reached the Coca-cola TL, because it turned into a one-way route. The water started to inundate at 17.00 WIB," Sarwono told reporters, Thursday night, October 6.
