MALANG - President Joko Widod (Jokowi) ensured that victims of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy who are still undergoing treatment in hospitals or health facilities receive the best service.

"I just visited the victims of the tragedy at the Malang Kanjuruhan Stadium. I want to make sure that those who are being treated at this hospital get the best service," said Jokowi at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) dr. Saiful Anwar, Malang City, Wednesday 5 October.

Jokowi admitted that he had a conversation with about four victims who were undergoing treatment at the dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital to find out the situation of the Arema FC vs Persebaya Surabaya match on Saturday, October 1 that night.

"I really want to know the root cause of this tragedy so that in the future we can get the best solution, and we know that an Independent Fact Finding Team has been formed chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs," he said.

The President also advised victims in the Kanjuruhan Tragedy to keep their spirits up and recover soon so that they can return to their activities.

"Earlier I also conveyed to the victims that all costs for treatment were borne by the government and local governments," he said.

Not to forget, Jokowi also conveyed compensation to the families of the victims who died.

"I know not only from the central government, but also from the provincial government, the Malang City Government, then Bank Jatim has also provided compensation that can ease the burden of the victim's family and relatives," he said.

Based on data from the National Police as of today, the death toll from the Kanjuruhan Tragedy increased by six people to 131 people.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, said that the six victims came from victims who were independently evacuated by their families without being recorded at a hospital or health facility (faskes).

"Additional data on those who died in non-faskes," said Dedi when confirmed, Wednesday, October 5.
