JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said it had asked the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to prevent two people from going abroad. This request relates to the investigation into the alleged bribery at PT Garuda Indonesia, Tbk.

"It's true, the KPK has prevented two people from traveling abroad through the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Wednesday, October 5.

Ali did not specify who was prevented. However, they were not allowed to leave for six months until January 2023 and could be extended.

This prevention is to make it easier during the summons of related parties. They were asked to cooperate.

"KPK hopes that when summoned by the related parties, they can cooperate and fulfill the summons of the investigative team," he said.

Previously, the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights prevented former DPR member Chandra Tirta Wijaya from going abroad. The prevention was carried out related to the development of alleged bribery in the procurement of PT Garuda Indonesia Airbus aircraft, Tbk.

"The person concerned (Chandra) is active in the prevention list," said the Public Relations Sub-Coordinator of the Directorate General of Immigration Achmad Nur Saleh to reporters, Tuesday, October 4.

As for the development of this case, a former member of the DPR and the company became a suspect.

The decision was made because it was suspected that there was a cash receipt of Rp. 100 billion in that case. It has not been specified who the members of the DPR RI are and the companies named as suspects.

The KPK will only announce the suspect when the detention process is carried out. They only ensure that the investigation into the alleged riot will proceed according to existing procedures.
