Many Mogok Motors, Water Genang In Cawang, East Jakarta Because Of Congestion

JAKARTA - East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-department officers helped deal with inundation on Jalan DI Panjaitan, Cawang, East Jakarta, due to heavy rains on Tuesday, around 16.30 WIB. As a result, there was traffic jams and not a few motorbikes died due to problems with the engine.

Jatinegara Sub-district SDA officer, Albert, said that the inundation as high as 40 centimeters occurred due to rain with moderate intensity in East Jakarta.

"There are approximately 15 SDA members who have been deployed. This flood is caused by heavy rainfall," Albert said, quoting Antara, Tuesday, October 4.

Albert added that due to the rain, the water channel on Jalan DI Panjaitan was unable to accommodate the water discharge until it overflowed onto the highway which was being packed with motorized vehicle drivers.

"The canal here is not enough to accommodate due to high rainfall," said Albert.

Traffic flow on Jalan DI Panjaitan experienced a long traffic jam due to the inundation. Many motorcyclists slow down their speed when passing through puddles.

Not only that, a number of motorcyclists who were desperate to break through the flood had to experience engine failure.

Albert said that the East Jakarta SDA Sub-dept. officers not only handled inundation at the location, but also helped motorcyclists who had engine problems.

"If the rain stops, it usually recedes with 20 minutes," said Albert.
