JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion summoned the Umrah Travel Organizer (PPIU) PT Naila Syafaah Wisata Mandiri to ask for clarification regarding hundreds of prospective Umrah pilgrims who failed to depart for Saudi Arabia.
"We have summoned the President Director of PPIU PT Naila Syafah Wisata Mandiri to provide clarification on the failure to depart for hundreds of worshipers," said Head of the Umrah Supervision and Monitoring Sub-Directorate of the Umrah Bina and Special Hajj Directorate Noer Aliya Fitra in a written statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, October 4.
Previously, hundreds of prospective Umrah pilgrims who registered at PT Naila Syafaah Wisata Mandiri were abandoned in Jakarta because there was no certainty about leaving for the Holy Land.
The Ministry of Religion provides assistance to pilgrims who fail to leave, while still asking the President Director of PPIU PT Naila Syafaah Wisata Mandiri to dispatch pilgrims who fail to leave and have been registered.
In addition, the Ministry of Religion has also issued a warning letter to PT Naila Syafaah Wisata Mandiri for the case of failure to depart for hundreds of pilgrims, namely not being allowed to accept the registration of new congregations.
"We ask PT Naila Syafaah Wisata Mandiri to temporarily not accept the registration of new pilgrims. We ask them to focus on dispatching pilgrims or returning congregational money," said Nafit.
According to him, the Umrah Supervision and Monitoring Sub-Directorate in the past week has continued to accompany pilgrims at the hotel where they are temporarily being accommodated. Efforts to negotiate departures with PPIU President Director Naila Syafaah continue to be carried out, but have not yielded any results.
"We are also coordinating with the Soetta Airport Police to assist the congregation and report the failure of the congregation to the police because elements of the crime failed to dispatch the congregation according to the mandate of Law Number 8 of 2019," he said.
Previously, the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of South Kalimantan Province reported that 175 Umrah participants from South Kalimantan were abandoned in Jakarta because there was no certainty about leaving for the Holy Land of Saudi Arabia.
"They are currently accommodated at the UPT Hajj Dormitory Jakarta Mosque," said Head of the Regional Office of the South Kalimantan Ministry of Religion Muhammad Tambrin.
Tambrin said the Umrah pilgrims came from the trip of PT Naila Syafaah Wisata Mandiri, which is located at Tanggerang, Banten. "We continue to coordinate their fate, so far it is still being handled by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion," he said.
