JAKARTA - Anies Baswedan's announcement as a presidential candidate (Capres) in 2024 is mutually beneficial. Not only Anies who got a ticket to advance in the 2024 presidential election, but NasDem also won the advantage as the supporting party.

A political observer from Al Azhar University, Ujang Komarudin, assessed that the establishment of NasDem to bring Anies to the 2024 presidential election could have a tail effect on the party led by Surya Paloh.

According to him, Anies, who has many supporters, can participate in increasing NasDem's electability as the fifth most votes in parliament in the 2019 Legislative Election.

"If NasDem supports Anies, he will get a large, high electoral effect for NasDem. That's actually being run by NasDem. NasDem sees that opportunity," Ujang said when contacted, Tuesday, October 4.

Ujang believes that Surya Paloh has calculated the positive impact that will be obtained by NasDem if he first announces the presidential candidate compared to other parties.

Then, this also opens the door for the public to consider Anies' track record during his tenure as Minister of Education and Culture to the Governor of DKI Jakarta for the 2017-2022 period.

"NasDem will not support Anies if he can't get a good electoral if it doesn't have a positive impact on NasDem. So, I think NasDem is brandishing the current anies because it has a positive impact on the NasDem electoral in 2024," he explained.

For information, the NasDem Party has appointed DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). The declaration was delivered at NasDem Tower, Gondangdia, Central Jakarta on Monday, October 3.

"The choice of the NasDem presidential candidate is the best of the best. This is how nasdem finally gave a figure, Anies Baswedan," said the chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, in front of Anies Baswedan.

Surya said Anies was the best person. So, there is no reason for the NasDem Party not to nominate it. "Why Anies Baswedan? The answer is, why not the best," he said.

Responding, Anies admitted that he was ready to become a presidential candidate promoted by the NasDem Party. Anies believes that his advancement as a presidential candidate will serve him. Therefore, the former Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) will continue to strive.

"We accept Bismillah, we are ready. By asking for prayers, God willing, this long journey will not be a tough journey but a light journey. We prepare this effort as worship," said Anies.
