JAKARTA - Bulog President Director Budi Waseso (Buwas) conducted an inspection of price checks and rice stocks at the Cipinang Rice Main Market, East Jakarta, Monday, October 3. The checks were carried out following the government's difficulty in suppressing the increase in rice prices.

In fact, Budi Waseso indicated that many private companies control the rice market, making it difficult for the government to suppress the current price of rice.

"With the development of private companies producing high-tech rice, they control it. They destroy prices in the field. Farmers don't get the right price, I know exactly," Budi Waseso told reporters, Monday, October 3.

Bulog ensured that his party had conducted research related to the current increase in rice prices.

In addition to the increase in grain prices at the farmer level, Budi Waseso also ensured the role of private companies in increasing rice prices.

"Please monitor the private sector who plays with rice. This is very detrimental to farmers and our food security," he said.

Budi Waseso ensured that currently many private companies have advanced technology in control of the rice market in Indonesia, even the stock of rice owned by the private sector exceeds Bulog's stock.

"We ask them to compete with them (private parties), they can be free while the state is limited. I believe that if we pay attention to the rules, the state is present to control food, there will be no food problems. I am sure," he said.
