Jokowi Says China Happy 73rd Birthday

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) wished him a happy 73rd birthday to the founding of the People's Republic of China.

On behalf of the Indonesian government and people, President Jokowi congratulated and hoped the Government of President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people.

Based on a report by Chinese broadcaster, Sunday, October 2, Jokowi hopes to continue working with Xi as an effort to foster friendship and increase bilateral cooperation in order to improve people's welfare in the two countries.

In the congratulation, Jokowi expressed his confidence through a comprehensive strategic partnership, Indonesia and China will continue to expand and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between the two parties and jointly contribute to the prosperity and stability of the international and regional levels.

A number of world leaders also sent greetings on China's 73rd Anniversary. Congratulations were conveyed by US President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Japanese Emperor Naruhito, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and many more leaders from Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America.

Besides Jokowi, the 73rd Anniversary to China also came from ASEAN countries with Singapore President Halimah Yacob, Vietnam President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, and Thailand King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

Chinese Communist Leader Mao Zedong declared the establishment of the PRC on Tiananmen Square across from Beijing's Forbidden City museum on October 1, 1949.

The announcement also ended a civil war between the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) and the Kuomittang Party since the 1920s.

The establishment of the PRC is commemorated every October 1 known as National Day.
