IPW Asks The Police For A Funding For The Arema FC Vs Persebaya Match Organizing Committee

JAKARTA - The bad precedent of the football world in Indonesia has again been tarnished by the occurrence of deadly riots at the Kanjuruhan Malang Stadium, East Java, Saturday night, October 1. As a result of the riots, at least 127 people died. Two of the victims died by police officers, 34 people died at the Stadium and the rest died in the hospital.

Chairman of the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) Sugeng Teguh Santoso said that the death toll in this national football must be thoroughly investigated by the police.

"The National Police Chief must order the East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta to criminalize the match organizing committee between Arema FC vs Persebaya on Saturday, October 1, 2022," he told VOI, Sunday, October 2.

Sugeng explained that the crime of falling supporters in Indonesia should not just evaporate.

"Seperti kehilangan jiwa dua beratoh di Stadion Gelora Bandung Latangan Api pada bulan Juni lalu," ujarnya.

IPW said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan (Iwan Bule) should resign with the worst events in national football in history in Indonesia.

Previously, it was reported that the deadly riot that occurred at the Kanjuruhan Malang Stasion after the host Arema FC lost 2-3 to Persebaya in the 11th week of the 2022/2023 league, Saturday, October 1, yesterday, killing 127 people on the football field.

The announcement of the deaths of hundreds of people who died was delivered directly by the East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta.

"In this incident, 127 people died, two of whom were members of the National Police," he said at a press conference in Malang, Sunday, October 2.
