Dozens Of Students In Surabaya Are Positive For COVID-19, How Do Schools Plan Face-to-Face?

SURABAYA - Dozens of junior high school (SMP) students in Surabaya are positive for COVID-19. This result is known after students take the mass swab test which is a step in preparing face-to-face schools in early 2021.

"There are about 36 students who have tested positive for Covid-19. They are among the thousands of students in 17 schools who had a mass swab test a few days ago," said Head of Public Relations of the Surabaya City Government, Febriadhitya Prajatara, confirmed, Monday, November 30.

Of the 4,760 grade IX students in 17 SMP Surabaya, 3,627 students took the swab test. There were other students who chose the independent swab test and some whose parents had not agreed to face-to-face school.

According to Febri, this swab test is for the prevention of COVID-19 in preparation for face-to-face schools. Therefore, his party also asked for parental consent during the swab test stage.

"We respect that there are some parents who do not agree with face-to-face schools," he said.

The results of this swab test will be an important consideration for the evaluation of the Covid-19 Task Force, the Health Service and the Education Office for face-to-face school preparation.

"We are holding a swab test instead of a rapid test so that it can open up the handling of COVID-19. We are very careful. This will be a face-to-face preparatory study for schools next year," said Febri.
