KUPANG - The Kupang Regency Government (Pemkab), East Nusa Tenggara Province has rebuilt 85 houses damaged by the tropical cyclone storm Seroja in April 2021. "There are 85 housing units belonging to residents that have been built by the Kupang Regency government. The houses that were built belonged to residents of Kupang Regency whose houses were heavily damaged due to the Seroja storm disaster," said Head of the Kupang Regency Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB) Elfrid. strange in Kupang, Antara, Friday, September 30. According to data held by BPBD, there are 2,000 housing units belonging to residents of Kupang Regency which are categorized as heavily damaged and 85 housing units have been built through a mechanism carried out by third parties. According to him, of the 2,000 housing units, hundreds of housing units were heavily damaged, which had been repaired independently by residents, so the government compensated for stimulant assistance in the form of cash amounting to Rp50 million/family heads. According to him, the construction of houses that were heavily damaged is still being carried out by third parties, especially in areas affected by Seroja such as Central Kupang and East Kupang sub-districts. "The construction of the houses is in accordance with the technical instructions from BNPB that residents whose houses were heavily damaged are given in the form of houses, while residents' houses that have been built independently by residents are given cash," he said. He added that the government through the Kupang Regency BPBD is still continuing to distribute stimulant fund assistance for victims of the tropical cyclone natural disaster seroja for the category of lightly damaged and moderately damaged. According to him, 6,000 of the 11,036 victims of the Seroja storm natural disaster have been included in the Kupang Regent's Decree which is entitled to receive Seroja stimulant assistance funds. "There are still more than 5,000 victims of the seroja who are still in the process of administrative verification and factual verification by the technical team. If verification has been carried out and it is stated that they have met the requirements for receiving assistance, it is proposed to the Regent of Kupang to be determined in the Regent's Decree as recipients of the Seroja fund assistance," he said. He also added that the Kupang Regency Government has also realized the construction of permanent residential houses in two relocation sites for seroja victims, namely in Saukibe Village, Northwest Amfoang District as many as 124 housing units and Bokong Village, Taebenu District as many as 24 housing units, according to Elfrid Swek.
