7 Democrats' Attitudes In The Case Of Allegation Of Corruption, Lukas Enembe, AHY: We Ask For A Fair Law, There Should Be No Politics

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) stated that seven party attitudes were addressing the alleged corruption case committed by Papua Governor Lukas Enembe. It is known that Lukas is also the Chairman of the Papua Province Democratic DPD. AHY admitted that he had communicated with Lukas Enembe regarding the problems that ensnared him. Democrats, he said, had also studied empirically whether the Lukas case was purely about the law or had political content. First, the Democratic Party upholds its commitment to support all law enforcement efforts in this country, especially in the context of eradicating corruption. Second, the Democratic Party supports and respects the ongoing legal process. "We ask that the law be enforced fairly. There should be no politicization in the process, also let's avoid trial by the press," AHY said in a press release, Thursday, September 29. Third, the Democratic Party supports Lukas Enembe's legal efforts to seek justice. "During the process, we showed Willem Wandik as the executor of the duties of the chairman of the PD DPD in Papua," explained AHY. Fourth, Willem Wandik is a representative of the Chairman of the Democrats who also serves as a member of Commission V of the DPR. With his capacity and integrity, AHY hopes that Willem Wandik can carry out his duties as well as possible. Fifth, the Democratic Party respects and upholds the rule of law, including obeying the presumption of innocence. "If Lukas Enembe is not proven guilty, then the person concerned will be reappointed to his position. But if found guilty, then we will appoint a definitive chairman by extraordinary regional deliberation," AHY said. Sixth, the Democratic Party will not intervene in the legal process for anything. However, the Democratic Party will still prepare a legal aid team if needed. "This applies to all Democrat Party cadres who are subject to legal cases," said AHY.
