President Zelensky's Phone: President Erdogan On The Russian War Of Ukraine, Calls Referendum Parties Difficult On Diplomacy

JAKARTA - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan evaluated the development of the Russian-Ukraine war in a phone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday.

According to a statement made by the Turkish Directorate of Communications, during the call, President Erdogan expressed his joy at having successfully completed a prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine.

Noting that the agreement for the export of Ukrainian wheat through the Black Sea is ongoing, President Erdogan said that a similar approach could be taken in the context of the Zapoirzhia nuclear power plant, according to Daily Sabah, September 28.

On the occasion, President Erdogan also mentioned that holding unilateral referendums in several Ukrainian regions under Russia's control would only complicate efforts to revive the diplomatic process.

President Erdogan stressed that Turkey is ready to make the necessary contribution to the settlement of the war through peace negotiations.

It is known that referendum will be held in Donetsk and Luhansk as well as the Russian-controlled Zaporizhia and Kherson sections on September 23-27.

Polls have been widely condemned by the international community, with European countries and the United States calling them "false" and will not be recognized.
