JAKARTA - First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo is scheduled to attend a kebaya parade in Solo this week to coincide with National Batik Day which falls on October 2, 2022.
Head of the Ratna Association, Clothing Surakarta Danarsih Santosa Doellah, said the activity was an initiative of Mrs. Iriana.
"Menda Ana (Iriana) mengingatkan bahwa kebaya asalnya dari Solo, ini juga seiring dengan gerakan Kebaya Goes To UNESCO. Oleh karena itu, beliau meminta saya untuk membuat gerak ini, ia kata bakal datang," katanya di Solo, Antara, Rabu, 28 September.
He said Iriana promised not to come alone but would bring the wives of all governors in Indonesia and the OASE consisting of the wives of the ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.
"Looking at his enthusiasm, I am firmly on the 2nd to walk with the First Lady in collaboration," he said.

"We chose them because they still use kebaya and batik cloth as daily clothing while working. They display the image of Indonesian women by doing charity," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Bank Indonesia (BI) Surakarta Representative Nugroho Joko Prastowo said BI fully supports the implementation of these activities.
"There are two main reasons, first as a form of support from BI to preserve ancestral culture related to culture and efforts to bring kebaya go to international. The goal is that the kebaya can be recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO," he said.
