3 Fishermen Arrested By Polairud In Labuan Bajo Gara-gara Transport 1,780 Subsidized Fuel Literers Without A Permit

LABUAN BAJO - Sub-Directorate of Law Enforcement of the Directorate of Water and Air Police of the NTT Regional Police arrested three perpetrators and confiscated 1,780 liters of subsidized diesel fuel that were not equipped with a transportation permit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai. "The team has investigated and arrested three perpetrators suspected of transporting subsidized fuel without a permit," said Director of Polairud Kombes Nyoman Budiarja when releasing the case in Labuan Bajo, Antara, Wednesday, September 27. A total of 1,780 liters of subsidized fuel were transported using 89 jerry cans, each containing 20 liters. A total of 580 liters were confiscated from the perpetrator with the initials AL, while 1,200 liters from the perpetrator with the initials K and A. The three perpetrators work as fishermen. Nyoman Budiarja said the disclosure of the subsidy fuel case without a permit took place on September 24, 2022 at around 11.30 WITA when the Polairud team of the NTT Police carried out patrols around the waters of Komodo Island. The modus operandi used by the Navy is to buy subsidized fuel in Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, at a price of Rp. 6,800 per liter and resell it on Komodo Island, West Manggarai, at a price of Rp. 8,800 per liter. This activity has been carried out by the Navy since July 2022 twice. Meanwhile, perpetrator K bought fuel at a price of Rp. 6,800 per liter, then sold it to A at a price of Rp. 7,800 per liter. Furthermore, perpetrator A plans to sell the fuel to the Pinisi and residents of Komodo Island at a price of Rp. 8,800 to Rp. 9,000 per liter. From the perpetrator's confession, they have carried out the sale and purchase of subsidy fuel since March 2022. "The case of this oil and gas crime is in the process of investigating the Ditpolairud Polda NTT. The perpetrators have also been detained," said Nyoman Budiarja. The perpetrators who have been named as suspects were charged with Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas as amended and added in paragraph 5 number 9 of Article 55 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation with a maximum imprisonment of six years and a maximum fine of IDR 60 billion.
