Still Being Discussed By The DKI Provincial Government, The Implementation Of Working Hours Settings In Jakarta Is Still A Request

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub), Syafrin Liputo, said that his party had not yet prepared a scenario for setting working hours in Jakarta for employees. When will it be applied, it is still a question mark.

So far, Syafrin said that his party had only just conducted a group discussion (FGD) forum with stakeholders regarding the mechanism to the impact of the implementation.

"For working hours, we have certainly carried out limited FGDs inviting Narsum and then this FGD was carried out in a kind of further discussion forum with existing stakeholders, in the future what it will be like," Syafrin told reporters, Wednesday, September 28.

"Of course we will get it from the FGD discussion. After that, then there will be a scenario in the future," he continued.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government must consider many things before implementing work hours arrangements. According to him, the decision cannot be taken unilaterally.

"It can't be unilateral, this is a good proposal and needs to be considered but it doesn't necessarily take place unilaterally because there are other parties including the central government. Of course we need to coordinate with the central government, in this case the Ministry of Transportation," said Riza.

As is known, the discourse on regulating working hours for DKI Jakarta was proposed by the Director of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Latif Usman. He said the setting of working hours was carried out as an effort to reduce congestion by preventing people from doing activities at the same time.

"If they carry out activities together, they must do an apple at 7 am, Jakarta is like being hit by flash floods every day and we are downstream having to arrange it at the same time," he said.

Latif said that the percentage of road congestion in Jakarta currently reaches 48 percent at leaving and leaving work, causing extraordinary and uncomfortable congestion for all road users.

"At 07.00-09.00 WIB and after work, it was 14.00-16.00 WIB, it was 48 percent. If it was already at that figure, it would be very crowded," he said.
