JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has asked the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) to increase systematic socialization to prevent bullying in schools.

"We provide input to the Ministry of Education and Culture on how these efforts can be systematic in overcoming bullying," said KPAI Commissioner Ai Maryati Solihah when contacted in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 27.

Maryati added that socialization should not only be a matter of bullying, but also teaching about sexuality which is actually needed by every child.

According to him, children are often used as prostitution syndicates that can be attacked economically, whose guises range from internships to work more than their proper hours of work.

One of the KPAI guidelines in preventing violence against children refers to Permendikbud Number 82 of 2015 concerning the Prevention and Control of Violence in the Education Unit.

"In the past, not all schools were based on Information and Community Technology (ICT) starting from prevention, handling to reporting on how to exploit online-based," he said.

Maryati said, ICT or technology, communication and information play a very important role in overcoming violence against children because the report is recorded in the technology.

The use of ICT in education includes facilitating access to education, increasing efficiency, and quality of learning and teaching.

His party has provided input and directions to the Ministry of Education and Culture to fix ICT in each school.

"Well, we have started providing input and it is being revised, hopefully it will be followed up," he said.

Based on the complaint data tabulation of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) from 2011 to 2021, in 2020 there were 6,519 complaint data and 5,953 cases in 2021.

Maryati said that the number of child abuse in Indonesia has decreased but is not significant, so it must be balanced with massive public complaints.

"The figures that are considered to have fluctuations will have to be balanced with the level of public reporting at least to the DKI Jakarta PPAPP Service and the local PPAPP Sub-dept. if they find child abuse," he said.
