JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin is deeply saddened by today's inhumane act of terror at a school in Izhevsk, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The president expresses his deepest condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones, their children in this tragic incident, and hopes for immediate recovery for those injured in the inhumane terrorist attack," Peskov said.

"President Putin is deeply saddened by the deaths of people, children in terrorist attacks on schools that appear to be being carried out by members of the neo-Nazi group," he added.

According to Peskov, the Russian leader had a telephone conversation with Alexander Brechalov, Udmurtia leader Izhevsk, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko and Education Minister Sergey Krivtsov who had left for Izhevsk.

"All the necessary instructions have been given. The Ministry of Emergency aircraft with a team of doctors, psychologists, neurosurgeons, and other experts have been sent to Izhevsk. All necessary social problems will be resolved," Peskov said.

As previously reported, an armed man with the swastika symbol on his T-shirt killed 13 people, including seven children, and injured more than 20 at a school in Russia on Monday before committing suicide.

Russia has experienced several school shootings in recent years.

In May 2021, a teenage gunman killed seven children and two adults in the city of Kazan. Last April, an armed man killed two children and a teacher at a kindergarten in the central Ulyanovsk area before committing suicide.
