JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission E of the DKI DPRD, Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo supports the Jakarta Provincial Government who wants to add CCTV placement points, especially in densely populated areas.

"This is a good effort to preventive measures against the rise of sexual violence. Public spaces must be safe for all Jakarta residents," said Anggara, in Jakarta, Monday, September 26.

Previously, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that the addition of the CCTV point was a response to preventing criminal acts, including sexual violence.

Anggara said that CCTV cameras should also be placed in densely populated areas to increase the anticipation of criminal acts.

"In addition to public spaces, CCTV cameras also need to be placed in densely populated areas. Not only preventing acts of sexual violence but also many other forms of crime and social insecurity," explained the head of the Community Welfare Commission (Kesra) as quoted from Antara.

He explained, so far people often propose installing CCTV cameras but are constrained by technical budget planning.

However, with Jakarta, which has been able to start the Jak-Wifi program, it should be a step to add surveillance facilities such as CCTV so that potential social vulnerabilities can be followed up.

"From the Deliberation of Development Plans (Musrenbang) or the Reses Forum for Members of the DPRD of the public has often proposed because it is needed, but there are problems with technical planning, so it cannot be included in the APBD. We hope that because there is an intention, a solution can be considered so that it can be accommodated," said Anggara.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government would tighten environmental supervision from criminal acts, one of which was by adding CCTV.

"DKI Jakarta itself is working with Polda Metro and Kodam Jaya, we are building thousands of CCTVs throughout Jakarta, we will also add one effort in the future every year," said Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria, Saturday (24/9).
