JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has begun to summon witnesses to investigate allegations of corruption committed by Papua Governor Lukas Enembe. The examination was carried out Monday, September 26.

"The investigation was carried out at the KPK Office," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in a written statement, Monday, September 26.

There are two witnesses who will be examined by KPK investigators. They are private employees of Tamara Anggany and civil servant (PNS) Wiyanti Hakim.

Ali hopes that both of them are expected to fulfill the investigator's summons. Their information is needed to make light of the alleged corruption case that ensnared Lukas.

Previously, Lukas Enembe would be called again for the second time on Monday, September 26. On the first call, the Governor of Papua was not present due to illness.

However, his attorney, Stefanus Roy Rening, stated that his client would not attend because he was sick on Monday, September 26. He conveyed this when he came to the KPK's Red and White Building on Friday, September 23.

"You don't allow to attend on Monday. So we ask the Governor to cooperate, so we came early to convey that because the health development of the Governor, according to the doctor, had decreased somewhat," he said at the time.

In addition, he also asked Lukas to be allowed to go to Singapore for treatment. The governor has a stroke and is claimed to be unable to speak.

Stefanus even specifically asked President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to give permission. Moreover, the current condition of Lukas is called concerning.

"With the alarming condition, with the Governor's health condition, on behalf of the legal team, I ask President Jokowi to give him permission to seek treatment abroad," he said.

"Our legal team considers that if these steps are not taken by the state, the atmosphere in Papua will not be harmonious," concluded Stefanus.
