BATURAJA - The government of Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel) has budgeted Rp4.2 billion for thousands of poor people in the area.

Head of the OKU Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), AM Hanafi said, the aid funds were distributed following up on the Regulation of the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia Number 134/PMK.07/22 regarding mandatory spending in the context of handling the impact of inflation for the 2022 fiscal year.

Local governments are required to budget for social protection for the poor which are distributed for three months for the period October-December 2022.

Mandatory social protection spending is intended for motorcycle taxi drivers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and fishermen, creating jobs and or providing subsidies in the transportation sector.

"This fund comes from two percent of the transfer of the General Allocation Fund (DAU) and the Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH) received by the OKU Regency Government this year," he said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, September 25.

Currently, the proposed funds are still in the process of discussing with the OKU DPRD to be budgeted for the Revised Regional Budget for 2022.

"Hopefully by October 2022 it will have started to be distributed. For how many OKU residents will receive BLT funds, please confirm the OKU Social Service," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the OKU Social Service, Syaiful Kamal separately said that currently his party is still carrying out the verification and validation process for the number of people receiving the assistance.
