JAKARTA - The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) said Indonesia is building a sustainable and resilient tourism ecosystem with various efforts. Among other things, designing references in the form of the National Tourism Development Index (IPKN).
"IPKN will be a reference for the implementation of national tourism. Currently, the IPKN preparation process has entered the finalization stage," said KSP Main Expert Helson Siagian in a written statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, September 25.
IPKN, said Helson, contains procedures for implementing, methodology, and indicators for developing a tourism ecosystem organized by various parties, namely ministries and institutions, local governments, academics, industry, the community, and the media.
KSP recommends three strategic steps in organizing the GPA, namely firstly good planning by determining clear and measurable targets.
Second, said Helson, is strengthening the GPA work group. In this working group, the provincial government is expected to be able to cut the barriers to implementing development and providing budgets related to the development of the local tourism ecosystem.
"So the provincial government can use IPKN data to build a strategic foundation in increasing the image and services of tourism in each region," he said.
Helson said the third step is to optimize public communication massively so that the realization of IPKN can be known and the benefits of the community can be felt.
He is optimistic that IPKN will increase Indonesia's ranking in the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) in 2023.
In 2021, Indonesia will be ranked 32nd TTDI with a score of 4.4, equivalent to Estonia, Poland, and Cyprus.
"With the implementation of the IPKN, our rankings and scores next year are expected to increase," said Helson.
