JAKARTA - The Kyya-Kya area on Jalan Kembang Jepun, Surabaya City, East Java, has begun to be painted with a tinge of red and gold yellow.

"In addition, there is also a combination of green and black colors. So every store name in Kyya will be made from the board," said Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi, quoted by Antara, Sunday.

Cak Eri, as he is called, explained that the details such as the nameplate of the shop made this area stronger with piquean. Currently, the City Government is coordinating with shop owners in the Kembang Jepun area.

"Kalau sudah disebutkan kawasan ini sebagai kampung petinan, ya, ayo dijadikan kampung petinan benar. Ketika tempat ini dijadikan wisata atau pusat kuliner khas pecinan itu (Kota Surabaya) akan semakin menarik," ujar Cak Eri.

According to Cak Eri, the Surabaya City Government also received the corporate social responsibility (CSR) Coloring Live Nippon Paint program, for the development of the Kya-Kya area.

The CSR in the form of 125 liters of Nippon Weatherbond and Pylox Basic paint was handed over directly by the Assistant General Manager of Nippon Paint, Wirya Atmaja to the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi in Kembang Jepun, Surabaya on Saturday.

Cak Eri said that CSR was not the first to be given to the Surabaya City Government for the development of the Kota Tua area in Surabaya.

Head of the Surabaya City Public Housing and Settlement Area (DPRKPP) Office, Irvan Wahyudrajad, added that the plan to paint the Kya-Kya Surabaya area will begin in two weeks.

"The mayor wants to be painted as similar as the original, such as the petinan village in China. The plan is two weeks away," he said.*
