SURABAYA - Bad news hit the Surabaya City Government. The city government reportedly was in arrears on payments to MSMEs. The value reached Rp9 million.

This news was immediately denied by the Surabaya City Government. Head of the General Section, Protocol and Communications of the Surabaya City Leaders, Vykka Kusuma Anggradevi, said that his party did not have any arrears to MSMEs.

"Based on our internal search, it shows that there is no arrears in payments to MSMEs. Everything has been paid in full," said Vykka, as quoted from Antara, Saturday, September 24.

He then explained that the realization of food and beverage expenditures produced from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at the Surabaya City Government for the period January to September 2022 reached Rp11.73 billion.

The realization of the payment of food and drinks, he continued, was carried out on as many as 101 MSMEs in Surabaya.

For this reason, Vykka firmly denied that it had arrears in payments to MSMEs. He explained that payments to MSMEs for food and beverage orders until August 2022 have been paid in full.

"So in principle, we will process direct payments once the requirements for files from MSMEs are complete," he said.

Vykka then stated that if there are parties who feel aggrieved, the Surabaya City Government is ready to check the truth with the available payment evidence.

"What is clear is that there are no arrears to MSMEs as reported. Based on our data, everything has been paid off. We have never been in arrears in paying MSMEs because empowering and prospering MSMEs has become the commitment of the Surabaya City Government," he said again.

It should be noted that several MSME actors complained to the Surabaya City DPRD. Those who are food and beverage producers said that the General Section of the Surabaya City Government was in arrears in paying for goods ordered up to Rp. 9 million.
