JAKARTA - A video circulated on Twitter showing a man sitting on his knees kicked repeatedly on the face. The act of persecution of the man was witnessed by a group of people in one room.

The 1 minute 6 second video, which was not clear, received a response from a number of netizens. Even the upload of the @Mencarinta99 account was commented on by the Chancellor of Ibnu Chaldun University (UIC) Musni Umar.

Musni claimed the man who was in the video was persecuted shortly after completing his prayer. He also claimed the perpetrator acted like a party member who was declared banned by the government in 1966.

"This is the behavior of the PKI. New people after praying were beaten. The youths just kept quiet and didn't help. Youth tempeh," Musni tweeted on his Twitter account, @musniumar, Wednesday, September 21.

Musni's comments were then responded to by the Central Anti-Fitnah Society (Mafindo). Through his Twitter account, @TurnBackHoax, Mafindo explained the origin of the video.

Mafindo denied the claims made by Musni that the man who was persecuted had just been worshiping and linking the PKI in the elements of crime.

"It's related to the PKI and prayer. FAKTA: an incident occurred in Thailand, NOT in Indonesia," Mafindo wrote on his Twitter account.

Mafindo added that the vigilante action was triggered by an alleged criminal act of embezzling money from an employee of a company in Thailand. Confirming his explanation, Mafindo also uploaded a snippet of online media news in Thailand related to the case.

"In addition, the background of the incident is related to allegations of embezzlement by a superior against his subordinates who are engaged in the loan collection sector," he said.
