BANDUNG - West Java (Jabar) Governor M Ridwan Kamil said the West Java Provincial House of Representatives (DPRD) suggested that direct cash assistance (BLT) for residents affected by fuel tariff adjustments be given in the form of vouchers or coupons for purchasing fuel so that it can be right on target. "But we can see that so we don't make mistakes, the DPRD recommends that the shape be coupons. Cash receipts for gasoline are for buying fuel because of the purpose. Especially for diesel at the fishermen's level," said Ridwan Kamil at Gedung Sate Bandung, Antara, Monday, September 19. Ridwan Kamil said the West Java Provincial Government distributed cash direct assistance of more than Rp. 100 billion for inflation control after the fuel price adjustment by the central government. "For BLT, we have now increased from what was previously Rp27 billion to Rp50 billion. Then we added the previous Rp50 billion to the impact of inflation. So West Java actually controls inflation and BLT is Rp100 billion," he said. According to him, this assistance is divided into forms of indirect inflation control such as market operations, while another Rp50 billion is direct assistance. His party stated that the money should not be used for fuel subsidies, but instead the recipients should use it for other purposes. "So that in the end we arrange the mechanism, it must be intended for fuel subsidies. The distribution should have started, because it was four months.
