JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) plans to recall Papua Governor Lukas Enembe. Lukas had missed the summons for an examination by KPK investigators recently.

"We will make a recall. We ask that Mr. Lukas and his legal advisers will attend the KPK," said Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata in a press conference broadcast on the YouTube of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Monday, September 19.

The KPK will also provide an option for Lukas to be questioned in Papua as the first call. However, Alexander asked him to calm down his supporters so that the situation becomes more conducive.

"Even if, for example, Mr. Lukas wants to be examined in Jayapura, we also ask for his cooperation so that the community is calmed down," he said.

Alexander ensured that investigators from the anti-corruption commission would work according to applicable regulations. In fact, the investigation into the alleged corruption could have been stopped if Lukas was able to prove where the money came from in his account.

"For example, Mr. Lukas has a gold mining business. Yes, we will definitely stop it later (investigating allegations of corruption, ed)," said Alexander.

"But, please clarify. Fulfill the invitation from the KPK, call the KPK," he said.

Furthermore, Alexander also ensured that he would give permission for Lukas to seek treatment if he was proven to be sick. All rights of the suspect will certainly be prioritized by the KPK.

"If later, for example, Mr. Lukas wants treatment, we will also definitely facilitate it. We will respect the rights of the suspect," he said.

As previously reported, Lukas Enembe has been named a suspect. This determination is based on complaints from the public. The case that ensnared him has not been detailed but he has been prevented from going abroad for six months.

In addition, the KPK has been trying to carry out investigations some time ago in Papua. However, Lukas was not present because he claimed to be sick.
