JAKARTA - Chairman of the Prof. Azyumardi Azra will be buried at the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery (TMPNU), South Jakarta, Monday (19/9).

"Information from Prof. Azra's family will be buried at TMP Kalibata, Block Z, Monday, September 19, 2022. The funeral time is waiting for further confirmation," wrote a message received by Antara in Jakarta, Sunday.

This information was confirmed by the Chairman of the Ethics Press Complaints and Enforcement Commission, Yadi Hendriana. However, the Press Council is waiting for information from the family regarding the funeral of the late Azyumardi Azra.

"Please for further information with the family, we from the Press Council are waiting for information from the family," said Yadi.

Yadi also expressed his condolences for the death of Prof. Azra. He did not expect his return so quickly because he recently accompanied him during a working visit to a number of areas.

"O Allah Prof., the last few accompanied Prof. Bali and West Sumatra, everything Prof. said was 'light', Prof. very happy to be in the midst of our press community. Husnulkhatimah and a clear path to Heaven Allah Swt. Love us for Prof. Azra," wrote Yadi.

The former Chancellor of the State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta died at Serdang Hospital, Selanggor, Malaysia, Sunday at 12.30 local time.

Prof. Azyumardi Azra passed away after being treated since Friday (16/9) due to health problems he experienced during a working visit to Malaysia.

Azyumardi Azra is a Muslim scholar who made many achievements, before being elected as Chairman of the Press Council for the 2022-2025 period. He was just inaugurated to lead the Press Council last May.
