JAKARTA - The United States has again disbursed hundreds of millions of dollars worth of weapons for Ukraine, saying it and its allies and partners will continue to provide assistance to Kyiv in response to the situation on the battlefield.

The announcement was made directly by President Joe Biden. The value of the aid this time reached 600 million US dollars or around Rp. 8,953,530,000,000, according to a White House memo sent to the State Department on Thursday.

President Biden authorized the aid using the Presidential Withdrawal Authority, which allows the president to impose sanctions on the transfer of excess weapons from US stock.

The packages include a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), night vision glasses, claymore mines, mine clearance equipment, 105mm artillery shells and 155mm precision-pattered artillery shells, the Pentagon said.

The White House memo also said the funds would be used for military education and training.

It is known that until now Washington has sent around 15.1 billion US dollars in security assistance to the Kyiv government since the Russian invasion on February 24.

"To meet Ukraine's growing battlefield requirements, the United States will continue to work with its Allies and partners to provide key capabilities for Ukraine," the Pentagon said.
